WHAT IS IT

A soft, creamy butter with a slightly earthy aroma.

Cupuacu butter is pressed from the seeds of the Theobroma grandiflorum tree which is native to Brazil. It is a close relative of the cacao plant (Theobroma cacao).

 

WHERE DO WE GET IT FROM

Our Cupuaçu butter comes from the Brazilian Amazon and is wild harvested and fairly traded from local communities.

 

WHY IS IT SO GOOD

Cupuaçu butter is a wonderful butter with many beneficial properties for both the skin and hair.

It provides a high capacity for water absorption, over 200% higher than that of lanolin, making it a suitable vegan alternative. It thus has excellent emollient and lubricant properties, helping to hydrate and soothe the skin. It is also wonderful aid in hydration of dry, frizzy and damaged hair.

The high levels of phytosterols act as free radical scavengers which makes Cupuaçu butter an effective anti-inflammatory.

Also rich in oleic, palmitic and linoleic acids Cupuaçu butter delivers true healing and restructuring benefits to the skin as it helps to improve the skins’ elasticity, regenerate skin cells and relieve skin irritations.
