ROSEHIP OIL
BOTANICAL NAME: Rosa canina
WHAT IS IT
Rosehip seed oil is extracted by cold pressing the seeds from the hip (this is the fruit left once the rose has bloomed and lost its petals) of the wild rose bush (Rosa mosquito or Rosa canine) native to the Southern Andes in Chile yielding a golden yellow to dark amber coloured oil.
WHERE DO WE GET IT FROM
Our Rosehip oil comes from Chile and is certified organic by the Soil Association.
WHY IS IT SO GOOD
Rosehip oil is an extremely rich source of fatty acids - linoleic (47%) and linolenic (33%). Fatty acids are essential building blocks of cellular membranes and help to repair, strengthen and rejuvenate the skin and speed up cell generation.
Because of its powerful cell regeneration properties Rosehip oil is perfect for skin damaged by the sun and other environmental pollutants. It helps to smooth out and improve the appearance of scar tissue, stretch marks and fine lines. It contains high concentrations of Vitamin C and beta-carotene (the precursor to Vitamin A) and also Vitamin E, all of which are powerful anti-oxidants which help prevent free-radical damage responsible for skin ageing. It is the beta-carotene that gives the oil its golden amber colour. Vitamin C helps stimulate collagen production thus improving elasticity and skin tone.
Rosehip oil is a ‘dry’ oil meaning that it soaks into the skin easily without leaving a greasy residue.
