WHAT IS IT

The Cananga tree (or ylang ylang tree)  is a tall tropical tree native to Malaysia, Indonesia and The Philippines. The tree is about 20 meters (60 feet) high with large, tender, fragrant pink, mauve or yellow flowers.

The oil is extracted from the freshly picked flowers by water or steam distillation.

In the Tagalog language, native to the area where the ylang-ylang tree is found in the Philippines, the word ‘ilang’ means wilderness alluding to the tree's natural habitat.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

Our Ylang Ylang (extra) Essential oil comes form Comors islands / Madagascar and is certified organic by the Soil Association.

WHY IS IT SO GOOD

Ylang Ylang essential oil is beautifully fragrant, with a heavy, sweet, exotic and slightly fruity floral scent. The health benefits of Ylang Ylang essential oil can be attributed to its properties as an antidepressant, anti-seborrheic (preventing or relieving excessive secretion of sebum) antiseptic, aphrodisiac, hypotensive, nerving and sedative substance. Ylang Ylang is wonderfully uplifting and yet calming and helps to balance the hormonal system. It encourages regeneration of skin cells, promotes healthy cell structure and improves skin tone.
