WHAT IS IT

Rosemary is a bushy perennial herb with needle-like evergreen leaves and delicate purple/blue flowers native to the dry, rocky  areas of the Mediterranean, especially along the coast. The genus name Rosmarinus derives from the Latin words ‘ros' and ‘marinus' which together translate to the rather poetic “dew of the sea.

Our Rosemary extract is a CO2 extraction. 

The process of CO2 extraction is an efficient and environmentally friendly way of producing superior, pure extracts and no heat of harmful solvents or chemicals are used in the process.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM

Our Rosemary extract comes from Spain and is certified organic under the EU organic farming regulations.

 

WHY IS IT SO GOOD

Rosemary extract is a natural powerful antioxidant which is excellent at slowing the oxidation and thus retarding the rancidity of other oils and we use it in small amounts in our products to extend the shelf life of some of our more fragile oils.

It contains high levels of Carnosic acid, carnosol and rosmarinic acid which are the main compounds responsible for the high anti-oxidant levels of rosemary extract with carnosic acid being the most potent one.

In addition to its superb antioxidant quality Rosemary extract also has powerful anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and skin toning properties.
