WHY IS IT SO GOOD
Babassu oil possesses an impressive range of fatty acids that are beneficial to the skin’s overall health.
Babassu oil is a great alternative to coconut oil. The two oils have got a similar fatty acid profile but unlike coconut oil Babassu oil is non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog the pores) and very easily absorbed without the greasy feel so great for those with acne prone skin.
Around 50% of the Babassu Oil’s composition is made up of lauric acid which acts as a great cleanser and anti microbial. The remaining 50% is made from a combination of Stearic, Myristic, Palmitic and Oleic acids which have highly soothing, moisturising and anti-inflammatory properties.
Due to its rich content of vitamin E and phytosterols Babassu oil has also got powerful antioxidant properties.
Babassu oil is a wonderful oil for the hair as well because it is mild, deep penetrating and it doesn’t strip off the natural oils from the hair strands. It’s moisturising qualities conditions and restores the hair’s elasticity and health.
Our Babassu oil comes from the Brazilian Amazon. It is wildharvested and fairly traded from local communities.
